Who We Are
Melissa Huggins Director and Founder of Body Language Productions (BLP) was born and raised in Newark , NJ . Recently Melissa and her family has relocated to Charlotte , NC . Since the early age of 12 Melissa has been choreographing dance routine for her school, church and other outside organizations.
In 1982 she started Sensational Strutters which was primarily a dance company. In 1990, the Sensational Strutters blossomed into the Christian-based theatre and dance company Body Language Productions.
Melissa says about her first play, “I was inspired by God to write The Pressure, Can You Handle It? After asking God to give me something that would glorify Him and allow me to be creative. Being a shy person with no experience in theater, I was not expecting such a big project; therefore, I was very reluctant. I began to pray and ask, if this is Your will Lord, lead me and guide me from beginning to end.”
Melissa has written and directed fifteen plays and has choreographed numerous dances. Some of her plays have toured NY, DE, MD, PA, NC and NJ.
She believes that only what you do for Christ will last!!!
Dawn Johnson Stage Manager of Body Language Productions was born and raised in Newark , NJ . She is happily married and has five children. Several years ago Dawn and her family relocated to Charlotte , NC . She is one of the original members of (BLP)
Dawn says, “Who are we to question God’s Plans? We are here to let the world know God is ready to meet you where you are. We are blessed to have the opportunity to serve Him in this way. All things are possible if you only believe and keep Him first in your life.”
